Safety and Quality

Our safety culture is deeply imbedded across all parts of our business. It is an integral part of the training of all staff, and supported by everyone working at The Maersk Company Ltd whether ashore, on our ships, or offshore on our oilrigs. Our excellent safety record in each of our business areas demonstrates our commitment to safety and quality.

We strive to ensure that every business area takes active measures to enforce all applicable national and international regulatory requirements. This includes the development of safety management systems and safety cases, supported by contingency plans and procedures in case of emergency.

We are currently seeking to ensure that we are ISO accredited in all relevant business areas. For example we have a dedicated Quality and Training Department in Maersk Logistics UK and Ireland Ltd that carries out regular internal audits and ensures the implementation of detailed Quality Assurance Procedures. We are proud to announce that both Maersk Logistics UK and Ireland Limited and Maersk Line are ISO 9001:2000 certified.

We also have regular audit and training programmes for all our offices and vessels. This is co-ordinated by a Safety Committee that is chaired by the Safety Director, a Board member with specific safety responsibilities.

We rank security considerations equally with commercial and operational factors in the management of our operations.
