Maersk Beaumont Joins UK fleet

 

London, 30 November 2007. The Maersk Company Ltd is pleased to announce the name-giving of Maersk Beaumont, the latest edition to the UK fleet.

The name-giving took place at Volkswerft Stralsund Shipyard, Rostock in Germany, where Lady Band, accompanied by her husband First Sea Lord Admiral Sir Jonathon Band KCB ADC, honoured The Maersk Company by naming the newbuild Maersk Beaumont. 

Lady Band: “It is a great honour and privilege for me to name this magnificent ship and, through my connections with the Royal Navy, once again reaffirm the strong bond that exists between all seafarers be they merchant or military.“

Maersk Beaumont is the final vessel in a series of 7 to be delivered by the Volksverft Stralsund Shipyard. With an overall capacity of 4,170 TEU, Maersk Beaumont and her sister vessels are the largest class of container vessels to have been built so far at the Stralsund shipyard.

Registered in London, Maersk Beaumont will be commanded by Captain Martyn Willis, with Roger Baggaley as Chief Engineer.
