Cadets
Life at sea with Maersk offers a challenging and rewarding career for highly motivated and proactive individuals. We are currently seeking to recruit talented people to embark on our sponsored Cadetship, with our main intake in September each year and a smaller intake in January.
The Engineer and Deck Cadet Training Programmes take approximately 3 years and follow a "sandwich" based system. This enables all cadets to combine academic studies at the nautical colleges of either South Tyneside, Warsash or Glasgow, with practical "onboard" training.
During the training, you will follow either an HND or Degree course. Following successful completion of the scheme you will become a Merchant Navy Officer in the Maersk fleet achieving a qualification in either Nautical Studies or Marine Engineering. You will also achieve an Officer Of the Watch (OOW) Certificate that will enable you to sail on any merchant ship as a qualified officer.
Training is fully sponsored by Maersk and at present all successfully qualified cadets are guaranteed permanent employment at the end of their training course.

Requirements:
All candidates must:
- Be resident in the UK and be of a Member State of the EEA
- Hold a minimum of 5 GCSE passes at grade C or above in Maths, English and Science, plus two others
- Be of good health and be able to pass the MCA Medical (ENG I) Test
Colour blindness is not accepted for either discipline, and an eyesight test is now carried out as part of the ENG1 medical.
